SWZL Season 8

Ok fans,

Star Warzone Season 8 will be starting soon, so now's the time to start rounding up the staff.

All the usual positons will need to be filled..Refs , Head refs, co-ordinators, scoremaster help,web page posts.These are just to name a few postions that need to be filled...there are always more. No amount of help is too small.

You don't have enough of a base. A league with anything less than 8 teams i believe will be a huge failure and shit on the confidence of swz which has had spurts of life lately...I think its better to wait a little bit longer...Maybe spring time like March or April to start things up

I completely agree with waiting until the beginning of summer before having another league. First, waiting that long might bring back some players that would otherwise be too busy with school. Furthermore, it will give new squads time to get ready. I'll help in any way I can.

Wait for other people to come? Yeah right, if anything maybe they would come play swzl.

 

I would help out, but first we would have to check how many squads that are intrested from SWZ and other zones. Then make a list and have a meeting with Coordinators, and then if things looks good we should start recruit referees.

 

Lets say we get enough squads showing intrest, we could set date on preseason....late January or someting around that.

 

I would like to try build up a more organized staff this year thought, useless to have 10 referees and noone of them care to show. I dont even know why so many of them sign as referees when some of them dont even ref 1 match during whole season leaving everything to 1-2 players.

 

Mackieman is chief for swzl so its his call, if he want swzl to be run or not, and who he wants on upper swzl staff.

Another thing i missed last season was that we couldnt hold SWZL in SSCX Starwarzone league. It havent helped out swz for the past two seasons having it held in swz instead of swzl.

From my understanding, this thread was started to get a early start on SWZL. NOT that SWZL is starting this month..or next.

 

From what I know, this is so that problems can be worked out and with people helping out setting up the next league.

 

From my understanding, SWZL is still months away.

Yeah, I thought league was supposed to start in April too. But Vaps right, we need to go ahead and start planning for it today.

 

That being said, the issue in this league make not be adminstrative (enough refs, bots, etc), but whether we have enough squads to make a competitive league.

I think we will be fine in getting enough squads, we have plenty of resources, use them. Senti your squad was the first to tell me they were playing. A lot of you play in other zones or are in squads in other zones, now is the time to use that shameful act of going to another zone for the benefit of swzl

 

Make a team with your squads outside of swz; I see Shocktech members come to SWZ every now and then, and I have a feeling they will play. My DSB squad is rather noobish, but that's what will make it so easy to sucker them into playing .

 

Old squads for the most part I believe will come back. Many of these squads have already said something to me, including Eminence, Orion members, and Defrost.

 

As for having league in SSCX StarWarZone, I don't see the problem; if anything it is better for the zone, as it is a way of promoting the zone.

 

A lot of people only play SWZ because of league. Therefore having a league will bring a lot of them back.

levi, i dunno who told you that emi is playing. But all i know is that when i came on at the period i was active again, most of the time only me and kemi were on the emi chat. And kemi is an active dsb player.

Also, if emi is going to play swzl, it won't be under my charge. I simply won't play swzl anymore. I sorta stopped playing subspace all together, whether or not swz is alive and kickin.

 

emi forum and emi email hasn't been used for MONTHS. So you tell me if emi is ready for another swzl ? Don't think so.

I said it. Emi will play. Kem, bjorn and me are still pretty active, and we have a few semi-actives. We usually get a few who show up for league too. I'll do what I can to make it work. So Emi's in.

 

And I'm quite sure, if i turn on the charm, I can convince senti to play too

 

The sooner the better, imo. I wouldn't wait around hoping the population will pick up in swz in order to start planning. SWZL fever usually accomplishes a rise in population to some extent anyway. To start, we should aim for January/February, which is about when we usually start.

I dunno maybe you guys are right but i definately wouldnt have the league unless you have atleast a solid 8 squads that you can rely on not to ns throughout the season...one of the main thing with swzl is everyone has swzl fever and then by week 7 everyone can't wait till its over....is there anyway we can keep this fever alive throughout the season? maybe having a third and 4th place final who eventually get a prize

I think a better way to maintain this swzl fever throughout is to have half-time shows....something along the lines of putting mackie in a superhuge high-powered cannon and launching him as far as possible.... so about 2 feet lololol.

Hi there,

 

I'm a SWZ player from LONG ago (something like 5 or 6 years ago), when I went by the name Jimmy_Pop... I just started playing again (I think the last time I logged in was a year or two ago, decided to start fresh with a new account) and it's all coming back to me how much SWZ rocks... It's so much better than any other zone; I really can't stomach any other ship settings, and I LOVE flagging (do we still do SWZFL?). I'm willing to do whatever I can to help this zone, including SWZL... So if you need me to help with running things, or if anyone who needs another squad member wants to pick me up or if anyone without a squad wants to form one even, just let me know!

Only maddok can make me!! and that's only if hes actually playing again.
