But keep in mind that it shouldn't be too difficult to use the outside to search for nme base. Make it flagging friendly  Sank: I like the G2 obstacles! ALL OF EM! Even little interesting obstacles we could add in there would be nice.  The obstacles in the G2 maps were good but I think we can do better. Quickshot* 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2004 i was thinking about changing some bases also, i mean i can just make 2 maps one with new bases and one with obsticles the bases in these coords...  I14, L7, G9  no one really uses those bases, now i don't really need to make entirely new bases, i was thinking of adding ladies room in there (the smaller one) and then making some new ones or maybe even adding another good base from the past.  i wanted to change those bases, cause no one really uses them at all, i normally just hide flags in there cause ppl never go there  Quick* Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

So that would tell you enough why there shouldn't be any obstacles in the outer ring. Unless swz is going to get rid of the swz theme, but that has never been seriously discussed. The problem is that the outer section encourages ppl to just run laps with flags until win. Also, all i'm looking for here is just some obstacles to discourage the behaviour (not to completely fill the area).  Quick- sure thing. A few new bases would be nice to have. That was the whole point of the map's design. Quickshot* 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 ok so i will make 2 maps then, one with obsticles and one with obsticles and new some new bases (only taking hotse out that aren't used), now i have started it and have still been working on it here and there over the day, but school got in the way a bit, my deadline of friday will be held but i will assure you at latest next friday it will be done, most likely though it will be done mon or tues of next week. abadx 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 heh i'll save you some reading time and post my point first  Reduce the bases, make it easier to fly to the sides of them so you don't need the channel, add in random obstacles where bases uses to be, and you're done.  I think the map is too cluttered right now and it's a pain in the arse to catch someone that's running. There should be easier ways to reach the outer rim with more access points that force people more inward when they enter. It's hard to anti on that outer edge so if you had someone staked out at two different points you could essentially warp back and forth around the map once your scouts saw someone coming.  Some of the clutter should be removed so that bombers can get in anti points and essentially trap people in that area where they will then be forced to fight. There should be a big disadvantage for people that want to try to hide out and run around there.  You really need to put blocking points on that rim so you can't just run round and round but if you did that, you'd defeat the purpose to that whole rim. Doors don't really work well because if a person sees you coming they can door warp and evade anti and then just run off to another section of the map.  In my opnion the outer rim is good in concept but I think a bad idea overall. The map shouldn't be so complex that you need to create a channel just to search the multiple bases that exist. There's only two teams playing against each other for the most part... why would you need any more than say five bases? Sure more bases make it more interesting but overkill is just not good. Â The bases are nice and obstacley-glued together, but that makes it a pain to get OUT to someone who's running, let alone keep anti on them, especially considering the anti ships are now the slowest ones.
